New guided family tour about Christmas and other religious festivities. In Germany Christmas is everywhere - but which other festivities are celebrated grandly in other countries and cultures? Are there similarities to the Christian Christmas? During Advent the German Emigration Center will be offering a special newly concepted holiday season guided tour for families. The tour will take place on Dec. 25th, 2016 at 2:30 pm as well as on Dec. 22nd, 26th and 30th, 2016 at 10:30 am. Objekt des Monats: Schiffszeitung „Skaubryn News“, 1955 : Deutsches Auswandererhaus Bremerhaven
Our object of the month is the „Skaubryn News“. The ship's newspaper accompanied the passengers on their journey aboard the MS Skaubryn from Bremerhaven to Melbourne/Australia. On November 22nd the German Emigration Center welcomed the Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic, João António da Costa Mira Gomes, on the occasion of his inaugural visit to the Federal State of Bremen to the museum. During the guided tour given by the museum Director Dr. Simone Eick the ambassador was accompanied by the Portuguese General Consul in Hamburg, Luisa Pais Lowe, as well as by the chairwomen of the city council Brigitte Lückert and Bremerhaven's Lord Mayor Melf Grantz.
