Die Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung ist eine gemeinnützige, private, kulturelle Institution und den Ideen und Grundwerten der Sozialen Demokratie verpflichtet.
Die Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) wurde 1925 als politisches Vermächtnis des ersten demokratisch gewählten deutschen Reichspräsidenten Friedrich Ebert gegründet. Der Sozialdemokrat Friedrich Ebert - vom einfachen Handwerker in das höchste Staatsamt aufgestiegen - regte vor dem Hintergrund eigener Erfahrungen in der politischen Auseinandersetzung die Gründung einer Stiftung mit folgenden Zielen an: die politische und gesellschaftliche Bildung von Menschen aus allen Lebensbereichen im Geiste von Demokratie und Pluralismus zu fördern, begabten jungen Menschen unabhängig von den materiellen Möglichkeiten der Eltern durch Stipendien den Zugang zum Hochschulstudium zu ermöglichen, zur internationalen Verständigung und Zusammenarbeit beizutragen.


The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) was founded in 1925 as a political legacy of Germany's first democratically elected president, Friedrich Ebert. Ebert, a Social Democrat from a humble crafts background who had risen to hold the highest political office in his country, in response to his own painful experience in political confrontation had proposed the establishment of a foundation to serve the following aims: furthering political and social education of individuals from all walks of life in the spirit of democracy and pluralism, facilitating access to university education and research for gifted young people by providing scholarships, contributing to international understanding and cooperation. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, which was banned by the Nazis in 1933 and re-established in 1947, continues today to pursue these aims in all its extensive activities. La Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) a été créée en 1925, selon les dernières volontés politiques du premier Président allemand élu démocratiquement, Friedrich Ebert. Le social-démocrate, Friedrich Ebert, simple artisan ayant gravi tous les échelons jusqu’à la plus haute fonction de l’Etat et fort de sa propre expérience douloureuse du combat politique, a voulu créer une fondation dont les objectifs sont de: promouvoir l’éducation politique et sociale d’hommes issus de tous milieux professionnels dans un esprit de démocratie et de pluralisme, permettre à de jeunes hommes et femmes talentueux d’accéder à des études et à la recherche grâce à des bourses, contribuer à la compréhension et à la coopération internationale. La Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, interdite par les nazis et recréée en 1947, continue aujourd’hui de poursuivre ces objectifs à travers toute la gamme de ses activités. Friedrich Ebert, un artesano socialdemócrata que de humildes orígenes ascendió al cargo público más alto de su país, promovió – ante el trasfondo de su propia y dolorosa experiencia en cuanto a confrontación política – la creación de una fundación que cumpliera los siguientes objetivos: fomentar la formación política y social de hombres y mujeres de todas las esferas de la sociedad en un espíritu de democracia y pluralismo; facilitar mediante becas a jóvenes dotados el acceso a la educación superior y a la investigación; contribuir a la comprensión y a la cooperación inter nacionales. Por medio de sus innumerables y variadas actividades, la Friedrich-EbertStiftung, que fue proscrita en 1933 por los nacionalsocialistas y reestablecida en 1947, continúa persiguiendo estos tres objetivos.
