This page is dedicated to the 8th Signal Battalion, and all of the excellent solders that served in it. The 8th may have been the finest Division Signal Battalion in the U. S. Army. facebook.comSergeant (acting) Bruce Ledyard was my roommate in Alpha company, during 1977. He left the Army that year. A good friend and excellent soldier. I found this on the Internet a few years ago. I have confirmed that this is my old friend from the 8th. The "Drive Safely" sign over the motor pool gate was painted by him in our room. " Bruce Eric Ledyard, 52, of 179 Waterford, Inman, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg, SC. after a brief illness. Born in Wauseon, Ohio, on June 5, 1953, he was the son of the late Kenneth Carlton Ledyard and Evelyn (Sobeck) Agnew who survives him of Florence, CO and also a step mother, Alice Ledyard of Liberty Center, OH and a step father Edward Agnew. He was the husband of Karen (Coppler) Ledyard. Before moving to South Carolina in 1996 he was the assistant manager of Hearn Plating Company in Toledo, OH. He was also an avid fisherman, gardener and accomplished musician and served in the U.S. Army. He is also survived by a sister Susan Sutherland and her husband, David of Loveland, CO; stepsister, Patsy Pickering of Liberty Center, OH; nephew, Shawn Sutherland and his wife, Jessica of Ft. Collins, CO; mother-in-law, Rosemary Coppler of Fremont, OH, sisters-in law, Cheryl Placko of Tiffin, OH and Linda Watkins of Fremont, OH; and brother-in-law, Steven Coppler of Helena, OH. He was predeceased by a stepsister, Diane Bell, and his father-in-law, Harry E. Coppler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
