On our 72 hour 'enduro' Howard took a new lake record, but has only held this for 28 hours !!!! Our new lake record has been taken by Steve Thomas, a new day ticket angler to Three Oaks Lake. This stunning 30 lb mirror was witnessed by Howard and photographed. Well done Steve.

Just finished clearing up after our 72 hour enduro. What a match !!! All teams have now gone home, looking very tired and in need of a good shower and a long sleep. The Welsh lads, Jonny and Adrian who partnered Howard had to leave yesterday morning to catch their ferry so Wayne stepped into the breach, taking on 3 rods each. After struggling for 48 hours with only 11 fish, Wayne must have brought some luck along and in the last 24 hours pulled out over 200 lb of carp and ended up with 30 fish banked, total weight of 278 lb, and Howard managed to bag a new lake record at 7.30 this morning, a stunning mirror of 28lb 9oz. This total gave Howard and Wayne a well deserved 2nd Place. This performance pushed Tom, Welsh and Paul into 3rd Place. Their team started off exceptionally well, with Welsh landing fish after fish off the point of the island, staying up all night. Later on Tom and Paul came into the action, steadily pulling in for the latter half of the match and eventually landing 31 carp with a total weight of 203 lb. Although they were there with the numbers they struggled to hit the bigger carp with their best weighing in at 16 lb. Must say though, these lads had a very well organised kitchen and after three days of hard work it was only the size of the fish which let them down. Our clear winners with 37 carp landed and just over 306 lb in total were Jim, Tom and Boyd. They fished the far bank mainly just Tom & Jim as Boyd could only support them part time. Boyd landed 4 carp with good weights totalling 46.4 lb. Tom landed a total of 18 carp and Jim with 15. Don't think they got much sleep with heavy spodding and lots of effort paid off. They also hit quite a few sizeable carp with the largest on their team captured by Jim at 22 lb. Well done guys - hats off to everyone, even with tiredness setting in everyone stayed positive and enjoyed a laugh and a joke to the end. We look forward to running this challenge again next year.

Fifteen and a half hours to go in our 72 hour 'enduro'. Cooler weather today and 5 mins of light rain early this morning certainly turned on the fish, although this afternoon when the sun came out it became more difficult. All teams doing well. Here are some of the fish from today.

We are now 33 hours into our 72 hour 'enduro'. With three teams of 3 battling it out to see who are the best carp anglers. The rods went in at 1pm yesterday with temperatures soaring into the 30's and up to 32 degrees this afternoon it's not an easy task. Here are some of the action shots from today.

Results time again. Started our Couples Match yesterday at 10am, four couples entered and we had a 'rogue' angler with no partner, but decided to let him fish - big mistake as he won the match !!!!!!!! He obviously had no handicap, other than he was only allowed 2 rods and the other teams had 3. In 5th place - Vince & Lisa with 1 carp and just under 2kg silvers In 4th place - Derek & Pauline with 2 carp and just over 2kg silvers In 3rd place - Mark & Sue with 4 carp and 1 tench of 1kg In 2nd place - John Prof & Vicki with 5 carp and 4.73kg of mixed silvers (mainly tench) In 1st place - Russ with 5 carp and 7.75kg of mixed silvers (mainly bream) Lisa took an early lead with the smallest fish ever hooked but was handicapped by Vince who didn't perform on the day and we know he can as he has won some of our previous matches. Derek and Pauline struggled on the far bank and could have been contenders but lost quite a few until he changed his hooks, it also must be pointed out that they have only fished here a couple of times. Showed good skills, just didn't drop on the fish. Pauline made delicious cookies for our after match meal, which were demolished by one and all. Mark & Sue targeted the carp, spodding out throughout the match. Lots of signs of feeding in front of their swim, but the fish were probably on the bloodworm and difficult to hook into. Big thank you to Mark for helping out with the BBQ while Howard and Vicki did the weigh in. John Prof had an amazing day, capturing a common and a mirror carp early on in the match. Vicki joined him after a couple of hours to add some very small rudd & roach to the bag, along with a skimmer. John then set out to catch more tench but along came the big boys - first he caught the white koi, then came the 14lb 4oz mirror and not long after had a stonker - a new PB for John and a new lake record - a lovely mirror weighing in at 28lb 7oz which he landed on a quiver rod with 8lb mainline - amazing angling John. He was probably using this rod as he lost the end two sections of his pole early on in the match to what we think may have been a large carp while fishing only two foot from the bank with a worm trying to capture perch. Russ stole the show - again - and made it look easy with 5 carp and a nice bag of mixed silvers, mainly bream. Well done Russ, formidable angling as usual. Next day match will be Sunday 8 September. Details to follow.

Great match today, really enjoyed it. Only 5 anglers but what a lovely day, perfect weather conditions, after the heatwave mid week and then rain for the past two days, the sun came up this morning and the fish were on the feed !! 5th Place was Howard, who in fairness finished early to help me with the food 🍔🍔🥗 4th Place - Richard with 3.5 kg of silvers - lost 2 carp, one of which straightened out his hook, so could have been one of our 20 lb + (but as normal now in our day matches, all carp only count as 1 kg so they can be put straight back into the water and give a more level playing field for our match anglers) 3rd Place - Peter with 4 kg of silvers and 3 carp 2nd Place - Vince with 6.7 kg of silvers and 6 carp Our Winner today - taking home the Prize Money was Russ, who had a great day, bagging up 6.8 kg of silvers and 12 carp. Next Match will be Sunday 18 August - our long awaited Couples Match, so bring along your wife/partner/girlfriend. Full details to be announced next week. P.S. The third picture here is of Adrian (affectionately known as 'Welsh') he has come down as the match finished today to fish overnight and caught this lovely mirror carp. Great start to his night session 😀🐟

Great match on Sunday, good to see 9 anglers enter the competition. The weather was perfect with a nice breeze across the lake. Newcomers to our matches; Peter, Mash and David enjoyed their day and we welcomed back Gary who did fish some of our first matches, but unfortunately was the only one to blank this time - better luck next time Gary. Our winner taking First Prize of 45 euros was Vince 2 carp and a nice keepnet of silvers (5.8kg) with the carp weight limit of 1kg each his total was 7.8kg - well done Vince. Second Place, taking a nice bottle of fizz home to share with his wife Jill, was Paul with 4 carp and 2.75kg silvers - total 6.75kg. Third Place, Ather with 4 carp - total 4kg Fourth Place, newcomer, Peter couple of nice tench here, total weight 3.8kg Fifth Place, Jim, with 3 carp, the first one was a stunning 25lb giving him a real fight and after that he landed another two lovely fish (weight limit applied today of 1kg per carp) let's hope they come out on the next 24 hour carp match !!!!! Sixth Place was John with a carp and small bag of silvers - John actually picked the same peg he had on our last day match when he smashed it and won First Place - just goes to show, different day, different conditions and the fish just move about. Seventh Place, newcomer Mash, 0.6kg, really enjoyed the day and met lots of new people so i'm sure he will return for another go. Eighth Place was David, with just one bream, but I am assured he had a great sleep as his son Gary (who came in last place) was in the next peg and we do have photographic evidence of him taking 40 winks !!!! Thanks to everyone and see you at the next match. Details to follow soon.
