facebook.comLife is full of unexpected situations, right? For example, I am a girl from California.. and I would never expect to see snow & hail during April! Well, everything is possible in Denmark. Need to remember...even life's storms dont come as planned, but they are only temporary. Dont get easily frustrated, wait for them to pass, and do nice things for yourself. The sun will come again.

Read something today that I thought was interesting to share... when you see a half glass of water.. rather than ask is it half empty or half full... instead ask yourself, ' How heavy is it?' Normally people say...anything from 8 oz. to 20 oz. However, the absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long you hold it. If you hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If you hold it for an hour, your arm will be aching. If you hold it for a day, your arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer you hold it, the heavier it becomes. Message to consider: The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.

I just gave a presentation on 'Depression in Young People' for over 120 teens at Frydensberg Efterskole over the weekend. If you are a person needing help with depression, contact me at (+45) 53552932 or my website: karleenpaquette.dk for individual therapy. In addition, if there is another group which would like me to give the presentation again, I am happy to offer it in English or Danish.

Valentines Day just passed on Sunday, February 14. It is a well-celebrated holiday in the US… IF you have a special someone in your life. Otherwise, whether it is here in Denmark or elsewhere, holidays can remind us of our loneliness--feeling empty, isolated, or even detached from others even when standing in a crowded room. If you feel trapped in loneliness and sad about it, then it could be a real problem. Do something about it. See link below. But if it is more chronic and intense, then it may be depression and you should consider contacting a mental health professional.
