WHAT IS EMSS?

EMSS15 will be a week long experience lasting from sunday to saturday in Denmark with social excursions around wonderful Copenhagen alongside the factual sessions.
EMSS15 will focus on minimizing standardized reading-intensive learning, and strive to maximize learning by using simulation or in-depth hands-on teaching. The goal is to give med-students from all over the world a look at how we do emergency medicine in Denmark, and our succesful hands-on simulation based training.
Accommodation will be at Colleruphus, a cozy forest cabin driven by a Danish scout association. In the cabin, there are sleeping halls, each with room for 30 persons, 2 lounges with fireplaces as well as toilet and bath facilities. A mattress will be provided but you will need to bring a sleeping bag and sheet.
The cabin is located just 20 kilometers (about 13 miles) north of Herlev Hospital, and we provide transport between the cabin and the hospital and to social activities around Copenhagen. Guides will assist you from the cabin in the morning and back from the hospital in the afternoon.
WiFi is available at the cabin and hospital and is free of charge
The majority of the factual part of the course will take place at DIMS (Danish Institute for Medical Simulation) atop Herlev hospital just outside Copenhagen. DIMS is Northern Europes largest simulation center.

Please see full announcement from the Organization Committee below. ___________________________________________________ Dear medical students, We are extremely sorry to announce that we have sadly been forced to cancel Emergency Medicine Summer School 2016. The EMSS is financed primarily through attendance fees, and secondarily through external funding. The economy of the whole summer school depends on all tickets being sold, and unfortunately, we have not been able to sell enough tickets to realise EMSS16. By this time just one year ago, all 60 tickets for EMSS15 had already been sold out and we had more than 20 people hoping for a ticket on our waiting list. Sadly, we have not been able to evoke the same interest for EMSS16. Students' Society for Anaesthesiology and Traumatology, Copenhagen is a non-profit volunteer or-ganization with no major financial reserves. Therefore, we cannot take any chances with the economy, and thus we cannot continue the work with this years EMSS. We know this will come as a great disappointment to all of you, but we believe that it is the only re-sponsible choice to make. We also believe that this is a decision that had to be made now, so you will have time to reschedule your plans for the summer. All attendance fees will be refunded in full to confirmed participants. We are deeply saddened by this, as we feel that the EMSS is an important initiative for educating our fellow coming doctors, and that this year’s program was something extraordinary that we would love to see implemented in medical education everywhere.
