The Standard offers you an exciting selection of some of our top favorite local, regional and international jazz artists. We are thrilled to welcome you to a jazz club unlike any other on the planet. With a completely new mode of operation, you will be able to experience intimate jazz performances on the highest international level and projects that will be curated, produced and conceived especially and exclusively for The Standard. Our productions will consist mostly of long term engagements and will have characteristics similar to theatre productions, except that our “cast” will be our musicians and our “script” will be the music programme.
Since its American origins, jazz has evolved to become a truly international art form and Copenhagen has one of the most vibrant jazz scenes to be found anywhere in the world today. At The Standard we will be offering you an exciting selection of some of our top favorite local, regional and international jazz artists, often in unique combinations or performing music that you will not hear them perform elsewhere. We are very focused on not only the quality of the music that will emanate from our stage but also on the consistency of this quality.
We want you to be able to come to The Standard at any given time and never doubt the quality of what you will hear. We are looking to associate ourselves with great musicians who will help us raise the bar, in terms of both the intellectual as well as emotional impact felt when attending a jazz performance.

The Standard Jazz Club is proud to present 2 very special workshops for musicians next month (March 2016) : Didier Lockwood (French violin virtuoso) - March 2nd, and Mike Stern (American guitar icon) - March 23rd. Artist Portrait: Gabor Bolla, from Budapest Hungary, started playing the recorder as an 8 year young boy and quickly graduated to the clarinet. His teacher was very enthusiastic about him so at 13 years of age his father bought Gabor his first saxophone. His parents were very supportive of his talents and recognised his special gift and nurtured it. He used to practice to old jazz albums and became a professional saxophonist quickly, as soon as he began to play, also at the age of 13. He now travels the world playing with some of the best musicians of today.

Just in ! For Late Night this weekend Daniel Rolim has agreed to stay at The Standard after his last Getz/Gilberto show and host a Brazilian jam session featuring fellow Brazilians Romulo Duarte on bass and Afonso Correa on percussion. We hope you join us for this very special live late night weekend! So grab a cocktail or two after 10pm Friday and Saturday and enjoy some live Brazilian flavors. Entrance is free.

Artist Portrait: Niclas Bardeleben is a very young 25 year old, and an amazingly talented, professional drummer. He started at the age of 8 in the Tivoli Boys Guard. He switched to the drumset when he was 15 and has been a professional drummer since age 18. We are so proud to have this huge talent regularly at The Standard Jazz Club. After Getz/Gilberto, Niclas leaves for New Orleans to explore New Orleans Jazz for 3 months.

Since Getz/Gilberto is so popular and many shows are now sold out, we have decided to add 2 extra Sunday performances the 24th of January and the 7th of February at 6pm.

Artist Portrait: Nancy Harms originally comes from Minnesota, USA but now uses New York as her base while singing all around the world. Her smoky voice and philosophic musings during her performances is what she is most known for.

Artist Portrait: DANIEL ROLIM. In just a few days the Brasilian composer/guitarist/singer will be performing the songs of Getz/Gilberto adding the Portuguese contingent to the concert. It is so rare when 5 different artists from 5 different countries play together as if they have been playing together for years. In his home country, you can find Daniel playing his guitar on the beaches of Rio De Janeiro. Stay tuned for more artist portraits.
