Sharing memories of Riverside School with friends - past, present and future Riverside School opened as a Primary School in Prague in 1994. In 2001 Riverside extended its provision by leasing the building across the road, which it opened as a High School.
The flood of 2002 caused the waters of the Vltava River to rise to the ceiling of the Primary school and during the next 18 months extensive reconstruction took place.
The Primary School relocated for one year and on its return occupied the same building as the High School.
A year later the High School moved to the reconstructed Primary School building and the Primary School took up the entire building vacated by the High School.
In 2009 Early Years moved into its own building in Bubenec, giving space for both the Early Years and the Primary School to grow and develop.
In September 2011 the Senior High School separated from the Junior High by moving to a newly reconstructed building in Hradcanska.
This enabled the Junior High to develop in its own building.
Each location is ideally suited to the students. The Early Years has a delightful building and setting in Sedlec which is entirely self contained.
The Primary and Junior High have the beautiful setting of the Vltava River basin, which keeps the students close to nature and is constantly changing with the seasons.
The Senior High is in the heart of Hradcanska which is superb for its proximity to Prague and the public transport systems.
The growing Skills for Life programme which involves the students in a range of activities takes full advantage of the Vltava River for canoeing and sailing. It uses local stables for Pony riding, a local pool for scuba diving and a number of tennis clubs and golf ranges.

The school's ongoing development has been achieved by the commitment of students, staff and parents throughout the school's history, which has continually shaped and challenged the school to move forward.

Riverside's Achievement at the Vienna Science & Engineering Fair

Simply the Best! Over the past few months a group of Junior High students have been working tirelessly to plan, design and produce a Science Fair project. On 12th March 17 students attended the Vienna International Science Fair hosted by the INMM at the Lycée Français de Vienne to present their projects, alongside 60 students from other schools. They were fantastic representatives of Riverside, presenting their projects to international judges from a variety of scientific backgrounds in a confident and enthusiastic manner. The results were exceptional and we are extremely proud of all students who took part. During the presentation of the ribbons, two groups received Bronze, three groups received Silver, and four groups received Gold. The judges were particularly impressed with their creative ideas, excellent understanding of the scientific method, well designed displays and superb presentation skills. On 17th March an Awards Banquet was held in which our students received a number of additional well deserved awards in the Junior Division: Best in Category (Environmental Sciences): Adriana and Emmie Best in Category (Human Behaviour/Life Sciences): Michelle and Averill Women in Nuclear Award: Viviana and Catalina Best Overall Project: Michelle and Averill This year, the judges made an additional presentation, awarding Riverside School with a Certificate of Merit. This was an award for 'Outstanding School Effort' in recognition of the contribution the school and its students have made to the Science Fair in recent years, with high quality projects and enthusiastic participants. The INMM commended Riverside Schools dedication to achieving excellence from their students.

Y9 Students visit the Senior High

Year 9 students enjoyed themselves in History, Art, Drama and Science lessons during a Senior High transition visit on Tuesday. Their fabulous artistic creations were inspired by the Berlin Wall and have now been added to a large group work started by SH History students on their recent trip to the East Side Gallery. Well done and we look forward to seeing Year 9 again soon :)

The Fair is organised by the Vienna Chapter of INMM (the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management). Each participating student receives a certificate while several gift awards are given to projects judged to be exceptional in each of the entry categories. Highly qualified judges are recruited from a wide area of scientific fields and appropriately assigned to the different projects. Each year a number of our Junior High students take a number of months preparing projects to present at the Fair. We wish you all well :)
