www.alphamega.com.cy Alphamega Hypermarkets are among the largest and most well known hypermarkets in Cyprus. Their history started in 1958 when Mr. Charalambides opened his first hypermarket, which soon became one of the largest in Cyprus with a reputation of stocking the finest and most varied selection of local and imported products.
In 1996 Charalambides Hypermarket started its operation in Engomi. This was a very high standard, modern hypermarket which could be favourably compared with some of the best European hypermarkets.
In 1997 the Hypermarket was sold to Mr Andreas Papaellinas who created the C.A.PAPAELLINAS Emporiki Ltd and in 2002 renamed the Charalambides hypermarket to ALPHAMEGA. Since then, the expansion of the company / brand has been rappid:
In 2002 the company expands with another hypermarket in the area of Acropolis (Nicosia) - The new Hypermarket introduced a new way of shopping where both the customer and the trolley were carried from the ground floor to the 1st floor on a special escalator.
In 2004 the company takes over a local supermarket in Larnaka ‘Ftini Gonia’, which in turn was renovated and converted into a modern hypermarket which fitted the company’s image.
In October 2007 C.A.PAPAELLINAS Emporiki Ltd expands to Limassol with the opening of its most modern facility.
Mid 2011 the company takes over a local supermarket in Deftera ‘Green Valley’, which in turn was also renovated and converted into a modern hypermarket named Alphamega fresh & easy
End of 2011 C.A.PAPAELLINAS Emporiki Ltd expands to Paphos with the opening of a state-of-the-art facility
