A school with an innovative curriculum The Institute of Maths and Sciences (IMS) offers afternoon courses leading to international exams such as the AQA Baccalaureate, GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, ECDL and Pancyprian university entrance exams. Established in 1985 has since had thousands of successful candidates in these exams and numerous students who distinguished themselves in national and international competitions. The institute holds a unique record in number of awards of scholarships to students that attended its curriculum.
From September 2014, IMS launched a pioneering morning curriculum leading to a diploma comprising at least four A Level awards, received at no prespecified age. The programme is tailor-made to fit the needs of students individually, allowing them to proceed to university studies earlier than what is possible at other secondary schools.

LIFE (Love Is For Everyone), AN ERASMUS+ PROJECT TO MAKE US MORE HUMAN Dr Athi Demosthenous and Ms Stephanie Robb report from Madrid: In the present climate of cultural division and mistrust one thing remains obvious, the only way forward is with LOVE. There is no avenue available to us, if we wish to continue as a united continent that embraces and celebrates our similarities and our differences that go beyond cultural, social, religious and gender boundaries. Romania, the coordinating country, Croatia, Spain, FYROM and our school, Cyprus, are all undertaking the extraordinary two year journey, working methodically and continuously to build and strengthen tolerance and promote Love for Everyone. We all go through this world eagerly searching for acceptance and a place to call home, a place where we belong. With globalisation, along with the economic and social climate of our time, many families search for new roots, new homes; they cross translational boundaries for a better future. However, many teenagers are met with resistance and intolerance, or are resistant and intolerant to the changing ‘faces’ of their society. Starting with a tolerance questionnaire, the project will attempt to quantifiably assess the level of tolerance that is permeated in each school and attempt to inform and educate our students, in order to have a quantifiably lower level of intolerance. The surprising to some, but great addition to the project, is the participation of a FYROM primary school, thus lending another layer of intricacy to the project. With them, we can also monitor how tolerance is experienced in different age groups, but also how each group reacts to the project stimulus of educating and promoting love, and tolerance. Through the use of multiple platforms: video, brochures, magazines, virtual lessons, performances and student transnational meetings all countries will attempt to build the bridges that divide us, to create a better, brighter future of understanding and tolerance to those who have participated, and pay that knowledge forward to all.

RAISING STEAM IN EDUCATION Our students are raising steam for Europe through Erasmus+. First stop: Poland, with Ivy Liu, Aristotelis Loucaides, George Constantinou, Vladimir Nezvanov and accompanying teacher Kyriakos Plalazis. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths seen in a holistic way is the subject of this Erasmus+ project. The development of multidisciplinary education and innovative methodology that benefits from the latest advances of technology, coupling art with the sciences, is the main activity axis of the ERASMUS+ project ‘Raising STEAM in Education’. Through a series of innovative activities, STEAM will facilitate learning of difficult subjects and contribute to the development of creativity and unconventional thinking in the project's beneficiaries: VII Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace im. Juliusza Slowackiego, Poland, EPAL Kalamarias, Greece, IMS Private School, Gymnázium, Slovakia, IIS Gobetti Marchesini-Casale – Arduino, Italy. Students of the partner countries will get involved in experimental workshops, often in collaboration with external academic or scientific institutions, thus combining formal education with non-formal ways. In addition, they will be given the opportunity to participate in activities in different parts of Europe, contributing to the design of new innovative syllabuses and more challenging forms of STEAM education by learning and creating together and sharing good practices. Young participants will participate in transnational meetings in Warsaw Poland, Kosice, Slovakia, Turin, Italy and Limassol, Cyprus and they will develop activity through workshops, experiments, seminars, tasks, games, flipped classroom and peer teaching, artistic events or academic training.
