Veliki Tabor fortress (44 km away from Trakoscan Castle) is one of the best preserved medieval fortresses in Croatia - it is situated on a hill 334 meters high and overlooks the whole of Hrvatsko zagorje (Croatian highlands) as well as a part of Slovenia.
Today was a good day to visit Trakošćan Castle and Lake again - the 5 km long trail along the Trakošćan Lake is beautiful. The scent of the forest is just so different than that of the city :) Danas je bio dobar dan za ponovni posjet Trakošćanu - 5km dugačka staza oko jezera je jednostavno prelijepa.
Visiting the castle of Trakoscan on a cold and rainy autumn day proved not to be a bad choice after all. The castle was in the possession of the Draskovic family for almost 500 years and its original furniture as well as the impressive surrounding park and the lake give you a good reason to plan a visit to this castle only 80km away from Zagreb.
Good place to spend a sunny day in Zagorje.
