The Coast High Country Inn has GONE TO THE DOGS!!! WOW! What a week it is for endurance sport in the Yukon. Saturday Feb 6th, 2016 brings the start of the 33rd annual Yukon Quest, the 1000 mile International Sled Dog Race. This year the race begins in Fairbanks Alaska, where musher and dogs will pit themselves against Mother Nature and race 1000 miles down the Quest trail to finish in Whitehorse, Yukon. Will it be another nail biting finish between veterans? Will it be a local Yukon musher that takes the ultimate prize? Which lead dog will get to feast on the coveted steak prepared by our very own Executive Chef Brian Smith at the Finish and Awards Banquet? Cheer your favorite team at the finish line, come celebrate all of the participants at the Awards Banquet (Saturday Feb 20th) in our Convention Center, and don't forget to check out our display case in the lobby for all your YQ souvenirs. We are pleased to welcome all those tough sled dogs to our site... oh yes, and their mushers, the organizers, volunteers, and vets that are part of the YQ 2016.
