Volunteers who worked at the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup Event were given a great "Thank You" supper tonight hosted by the Westlock Curling Club. There were speeches, there was wine, there was good food, there were lots of door prize draws, all of which made for a great way for all the volunteers to get together one more time and receive their well earned praises for doing a great job and thus ensure the success of the event. Like one of our volunteers commented on face book ... we really knocked it out of the park! As I quoted at the supper ... Volunteers are not paid - but that doesn't mean they are worthless ....... Volunteers are PRICELESS!

And the last rock was thrown ....... an exciting finish for the 2017 Alberta Boston Pizza Cup with an extra end played to break the tie game and see Team Bottcher qualify for the Brier. Just minutes after the spectators and sponsors left, the volunteers on certain groups were starting to dismantle the area to help return it to being a hockey arena once again by this Tuesday. As Director of Volunteers, I send out a BIG and very sincere "Thank You" to the nearly 220 volunteers who have done their all over the past week to ensure that Westlock be shown off as it's best, to the teams, their coaches, the umpires, the media and all the out of town guests. I heard of, or personally recieved a good many compliments about how friendly and helpful the volunteers were, not to mention how sharp you all looked in your jackets. This made me very proud of our group! We really do have a great community here and the successful outcome of this big event which was a huge undertaking for the Westlock Curling Club was thanks to your efforts. Come and celebrate a great finish at the Volunteer Appreciation Supper this Wednesday, upstairs at the curling rink at 5:30pm.
