Dog abuser gets 2-year sentence in animal cruelty case

THANK YOU! For nearly an hour today officers from the Welland SPCA followed and attempted to capture an exhausted and terrified Miniature Pinscher. Officers ended up following the dog down Canal Bank Road near Townline Tunnel Road. When our officers exited their vehicle they activated their emergency lights to warn traffic on this very busy road. Over the course of three minutes the officer was able to gain the trust of this terrified dog and finally able to put a leash on it. The entire time all traffic stopped and waited until the dog was safely captured. The Welland SPCA would like to sincerely thank those motorists that came to a complete stop. Had they not have the dog would have surely been spooked by passing vehicles and continued to run. #slowdown #moveover
