Located in Viking, Alberta. June 18, 2017 Background:
2017 will be the seventh year The Vikings in the Streets Festival has taken place in Viking, Alberta. Just east of Edmonton on Highway 14. Viking and the surrounding area is supported mainly by agriculture and the oil & gas sector. The Town of Viking has a diverse population of residents and a lot of young families have been returning to the area. The goal of the Festival each year is to provide fun, family oriented activities to all age groups.
The Festival began as an idea by some very creative and forward thinking residents of Viking. Starting up a summer festival was quite a task and it has grown each year, adding new events, and new volunteers to help run it.
Funding the Festival:
The Vikings in the Streets Festival is part of the Viking Community Foundation that helps people and groups invest in the Town of Viking, to make it a desirable place to live, work, play, learn and grow.
The Vikings in the Streets Festival is a significant annual fundraising event for the Viking Community Foundation. The success of the Festival relies on the support of individuals and businesses coming together to help raise funds to support the Foundations initiatives.
The Vikings in the Streets Festival makes annual donations to service and sports groups in the Viking area.

Calum Lykan Storytelling
Calum is willing to tell stories about people or places that are suggested by his audience. "Scottish and Irish folk tales and legends, Norse and Greek myths, tales from Europe, Asia, America are just some of the stories I love to tell". He will be located at the Viking Village for the day.
Mary Lambert Show - Singin' Along
Mary is a family singer/songwriter/performer. She is an outstanding Canadian artist in the children's entertainment field. Her show is fun for all ages!
Vikings Village Odin's Ravens
A living demonstration of life from 900AD. The Odin's reeanactors will display clothing, tools, everyday items, food, and crafts of Northern European. There will be fight demonstrations as well as the best fight - Kids vs. Vikings!
