*****Congratulations Jenna Villeneuve!! ***** ~~~~~~~~May Athlete of the Month~~~~~~~~ We are so proud of the athlete Jenna has become. She started doing CrossFit 4 years ago and has made it a successful story to tell. She has overcome many challenges and has transformed her mind and body! She put in hard work at the gym and completed the Mission Nutrition program. She has continued to implement the nutrition program into her lifestyle and it shows- Jenna has lost 30 lbs!! She has been crushing her goals; she can now do several strict pull-ups and she just recently hit a 135lb clean TWICE!! Every week she is pushing herself to new limits and she is hungry for more. This was not easy, there has been bumps along the way, but jenna persevered and kept showing up. Here are a few words from Jenna about her journey... Favourite WOD or movement? Deadlifts :) and Double Unders! Least favorite WOD or movement? Running... and thrusters. What was your sports and fitness background prior to CrossFit? I was never athletic growing up. I left all the sport playing to my brother. I grew up riding horses, hunting and involved in Chuckwagons to stay active. All activities I still enjoy today! How did you get exposed to CrossFit? My cousins asked me to try it out with them when I first moved to Unity. I had never been a gym person before and decided to try it out. Boy am I ever glad they asked me! What was your first WOD? And how did it feel? Yes... I did baseline as an intro and it was so tough. I didn't think I was that outta shape till that moment haha. After I finished I went to the washroom cause I was so positive I was going to hurl. Remember Lindsey 😉 Thanks goodness I haven't felt like that since! Lol What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? Since I started crossfitting and Mission Nutrition together my body has changed a lot but so has my mental health. I have lost over 30 lbs in the past year and have maintained a body weight I like and want to keep for many years ahead! I have gained so much confidence and love for myself since CrossFit which is so important to me. Loving yourself is the key to anyone's happiness and CrossFit makes me very happy! What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? Just being able to do everything I never thought I could do! I have so many goals ahead of me and how I feel right now nothing can stop me from reaching them! Having goals and believing in yourself has helped me with my family and friend relationships as well. I love making others happy and try to stay as positive as I can even when times are tough. Do you have some advice for people who are thinking of trying CrossFit? Even if you believe you aren't athletic or can't lift weights you will surprise yourself! Not only will it make your body feel good, you will be apart of this amazing community that makes your mind and soul healthy. I hate how lots of people think CrossFit is a 'cult' or too hard for them cause you don't know how good something is until you try! Its being apart of a healthy lifestyle and getting out of your comfort zone. I would not be who I am today without my CrossFit family❤️ I am truly honoured to be athlete of the month 😊
