Please allow us to formally introduce our Chefs Jamie and George 🍻 Local; a single word that encapsulates what Chef Jamie Weeks is all about. Born in Trail, BC with roots throughout the Kootenays, Jamie’s passion for culinary arts formed at an early age. After graduating from the Culinary Program at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC, Jamie moved to Vancouver and obtained her certification as Red Seal Chef. She gained experience in the culinary industry in Vancouver for a decade, working for reputable restaurants such as Joe Fortes and The Flying Pig. Last Spring Jamie was thrilled to join the team at Redstone Resort in Rossland as the Executive Chef. Her attachment to the Kootenays motivates her to develop relationships with local farmers and businesses. Jamie’s culinary vision is to provide everyone with the opportunity to experience locally inspired cuisine. Recently, Jamie has had the opportunity to collaborate with the Trail Beer Refinery. Playing a role in two local businesses is a privilege for her that fits in perfectly with the values Jamie possesses as a local and as a chef. Jamie takes pride in showcasing what we have here in the Kootenays; our “local” is something very special. Chef George Nutter grew up in the Kootenays and at an early age developed an interest in baking and cooking. Prior to working at the Trail Beer Refinery he owned a catering business in Castlegar, BC and worked in notable resorts: Eagle Ranch, Copper Point and Halcyon Hot Springs. Influenced by his local surroundings and working at competitive restaurants George formed his culinary identity. George is pleased to join the Trail Beer Refinery and is happy to be closer to home as he has a growing young family. He is excited about the opportunity to work with the team at the Trail Beer Refinery. George’s passion for using local ingredients brings a unique culinary experience to the Trail Beer Refinery – one that is approachable and complements the beer and friendly atmosphere. George’s vision is to build a food and beer culture at the Trail Beer Refinery that makes Trail Proud!
