Viking bakery.

Dear Friends and Customers As many of you know, I closed Viking Bakery three weeks ago. The reason for the closing was my accepting a job at Danish Pastry House in Oakville. Everything happened very quickly and it was a bit of a puzzle to make everything work. Viking Bakery didn't last very long, but it was a fun time. I've moved to Oakville now and started my new job. I hope to see you there, if you find yourself in Oakville, as I'd like to stay connected with as many of the good people I met at Viking Bakery as possible. The Danish Pastry House is located at 487 Cornwall Road and the phone number there is (905) 844-7777. Best Regards to All Birgir Róbertsson

Icelanders consume one million cream buns on Bun Day!

On Saturday 6 feb is Bolludagur Bun Day or Cream Puff Day in Viking bakery. The Christian tradition of celebrating Bolludagur seven weeks before Easter traveled to Iceland from Denmark in the 19th century.Children wake their parents up with excited shouts and encouraging spanks with homemade paddles (to ensure a goodly number of cream puffs). If you want to know more about tradition you can read this...http://icelandmag.visir.is/article/icelanders-consume-one-million-cream-buns-bun-day At least we're going to bake a lot of cream puffs on Saturday here in Toronto and see what happens......
