St. Nicholas Church, Torbay
Description
Mission: To build a sustainable Christian community based on an active, strong and vibrant congregation. The Parish of Pouch Cove/Torbay is a growing parish located on the north-east section of the Avalon Peninsula. We have a rich history extending back to the early 1800’s. All Saints Church serves the Pouch Cove area. St. Nicholas Church serves the Torbay area. Together we form one parish with 235 families.
We take pride in that we are a friendly and inclusive church that is made up of Christians with diverse ages and backgrounds. We are two local congregations which broadly reflect the make-up of the area around us. We welcome visitors to any of our services and activities. Our doors are open to any who seek to worship and serve Jesus Christ.
We are a Gospel-believing people who hold true to the Word of God. We are open to the various traditions of the Anglican Communion, which enrich our understanding and worship.
Our community life is centred on worship each Sunday where we gather to hear the word of God, to pray, to laugh, to grow and to give thanks for and to celebrate God’s presence among us. All Baptized people are welcome to receive communion at our altar.
We also live out our faith through education programs, outreach, fellowship, and community service.
Our ministry team has one full time priest, two associate priests, and a deacon. There is a strong lay leadership which works together with clergy to carry out ministry. While believing God has greatly blessed us over the years, we must continue to seek God’s guidance and discern our purpose.
Come join us as we serve Christ!
