A new week and a new workout is up!! This week we have another "death by" workout that is sure to get the blood flowing. So just like the push-up workout we increase the reps by 1 every minute but this time we start our count at 15 reps! Kettlebell swings are only to eye level and continue to add reps until you can't complete the work within 1 minute. Be sure to use your hips to drive the kettlebell up, this shouldn't be overly taxing on your arms!! Choose a manageable weight and get to it!! Post your last completed round and the weight used on the leaderboard!! Good luck everyone and have a great week!! 💪🏼💪🏼 -J

Another WOW is up! This one will be as tough as you make it. Cindy is a benchmark workout from the sport of Crossfit and we are tackling a version of it this week. Set up a timer and grind through it. Pick a pace that you can sustain and try to push steady the whole 10minutes!! Good luck and happy Monday!! -J
Another instalment in the WOW catch up tracker. Arrived at the gym a little early to coach so I tried out this week's workout of maxing out my back squat. 45lbs 95lbs 135lbs 165lbs 185lbs 195lbs with some left in the tank! But class was starting so I had to call it there. This workout doesn't take long and it's a good way to see where you're at with a major strength movement! Still lots of time left to get those numbers up on the leaderboard and the PRs posted!! Happy squatting! -J

As promised, I am making up for the missed WOWs!! Finished week 1's thruster and burpee workout with a time of 7:36 at 55lbs! The video didn't work but I'm hoping this sweaty/red faced selfie works as proof!! I will keep plugging away until I'm caught up! As a coach, I promise never to give my athletes a workout I wouldn't do myself and now that I'm done competing for a few months I can get back in on these high intensity workouts!! Hope everyone is finishing their work weeks strong!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 -J

I had a revelation today as another parent contacted me looking for information about the upcoming S&C Camp. Many of the parents that have shown interest in the camp have children that have been injured within their sport and they are absolutely right that a strength program will help their child in recovery and prevention of further injuries. What many parents may not know is that they don't have to wait until after an injury for this types of program to have a major impact. A large percentage of youth injuries in sport are non-contact, meaning they very likely could be prevented through proper strength and stability training. So along with making an athlete stronger and faster, a strength and conditioning program can prepare the body of the kinds of forces it will receive in the playing field preventing many joint injuries and keeping sports fun and safe for all of the athletes. It's not too late to sign up for our S&C Camp!! Contact Jaime at s410weightlifting@hotmail.com to get more information and save your spot. https://instagram.com/p/BS6tQbIjRgs/

This past weekend our gym was represented by some of our very own #410athletes at the Ontario Scholastic Weightlifting Challenge! Alex Iles went into his first ever weightlifting meet and did remarkably, setting personal best in each of his lifts. Coach and athlete Jaime Reeves also competed lifting a personal best in the clean and jerk and winning gold in her weight class!! Congrats to these athletes and we can't wait to see our club represented again in future meets!! If you would like to learn more about the sport of weightlifting and the benefits it can have for athletes contact Jaime at s410weightlifting@hotmail.com
