Today is a "Yellow Day". It is important for all parents and students to know that on yellow days new learning will occur in our classrooms. Only approximately 15% of our students are rural bus students, therefore we would anticipate 85% of our students should be able to safely arrive at HJC. It would not be fair to the students in attendance if we did not proceed with teaching and learning. If students and parents are not able to make it to school safely, our staff will ensure students receive what they missed. MLA for a Day (free weekend learning about politics for grade 10-12 students) Participants learn more about the role of an MLA and experience firsthand what it's like to deal with diverse points of view when making decisions on provincial issues. Students from across Alberta will spend three days in Edmonton, in and around the site of the Alberta Legislature. In addition to touring the grounds and building, they will visit the office of their MLA, attend a formal dinner hosted by the Speaker and participate in a variety of fun activities. The program is packed with exciting educational opportunities leading up to a debate in the Assembly Chamber itself. Interested students can find out more from the Visitor Services office.
