Welcome to the official Sydney and Louisburg Railway Museum Facebook page! The Sydney and Louisburg Railway Museum in Louisbourg was founded in 1971 and first opened to the public in 1972.
"Our purpose is to collect and display items related to the history of the Sydney and Louisburg Railway and the area it served"
The original station was built in 1895 and served as the railway station until 1968 when the line was discontinuted.
The museums entirety includes the main station and the freight shed which are both original buildings from 1895. In 1993 the "round house" was built to house our 2nd class passenger car from 1881. Our rolling stock collection includes: two passenger cars, First-class coach car (1914) Second-class coach car (1881) A Caboose (1904), Freight car (1927) and our Oil tanker (date unknown).
There is no specific admission charge, however, there is a donation box in the lobby area. An assortment of souvenirs are available in our gift shop located in the freight shed!
All proceeds from donation box and gift shop go towards the maintenance, operation and ongoing restoration of the museum.

It's that time of year again! The 2016 Louisbourg Crab fest will be held on July 29th & 30th at the louisbourg waterfront! ADVANCED 2-DAY PASSES ARE AVAILABLE 15$ EACH !! Where? at the Sydney and Louisburg railway museum,Pecks Store and the Louisbourg general store.
