Volunteers Needed!!!! The Little Falls Spring Carnival couldn't run without the help of parent volunteers. We are still in need of volunteers for this event. For all Little Falls Families, Last Monday, information was provided to families through the May newsletter, as well as through the School Council meeting about a change in times for our school day next year. We have received a considerable amount of feedback about this change. Whenever change needs to happen, we try to do our best to ensure that families receive as much notice as possible and that we do our best to ensure that we can minimize impact as much as possible. We realize that the communication of this change has created some challenges, and I want to apologize for the concern it has caused. We realize that reaching out to our school community for input, whenever possible, should happen and this was a missed step in this process. Please know that the AMDSB School Board and Transportation Department is currently drafting an information sheet and survey for all Little Falls families to get feedback on the change in our school day. Based on the initial feedback, we saw a need to offer 2 possible scenarios for change knowing that one of the options may serve our school community better than the other. These scenarios will be part of this survey and we ask that you complete the survey and return it to school so that the School Board and Transportation Department can make the most informed decision possible. We expect this survey to be ready for distribution (via email and paper copies available) in the near future. Once all of the information has been gathered, the School Board and Transportation Department will provide us with the final decision. Again, my sincere apologies for the concern that this has caused. We know that change is not always easy, but I hope that by us taking a step back to gather more information before the changes are made will help make this a more smooth change process. Dear Little Falls Families, Over the next few days, you will receive some information home about the best night of the year! This is a family-friendly night for activities for all ages. Here are some key points and dates to remember: Volunteers This event couldn't run without the help of parent volunteers. Please fill out the volunteer form and send it back to the school by Monday, May 8. There are plenty of opportunities for you to help out and still enjoy the Carnival with your family. Food You will be able to pre-order food tickets for your family so you don't have to wait in line at the event. Pre-order tickets will be available to purchase in bundles of 10. They will also be available on School Cash Online (please only order your family's food tickets through one child). Bracelets Bracelets will be available for purchase both in advance and on the night of Carnival. A bracelet gives your child(ren) unlimited access to the inflatables and the games. Bracelets are $10 each or $25 for a family. Silent Auction The office is now accepting donations for the silent auction. Some ideas for items include gift certificates, tickets, home décor/garden items and items that you may sell through a home-based business. Please have the items dropped off by Wednesday, May 10. Thank you in advance for your support! Kids Raffle Please remember that you must be 18+ to purchase tickets. An order form will come home this week and they will also be available to purchase through School Cash Online, attributed to each of your children. If you would like to donate items to the raffle, a suggested value is $10-15 and we ask that you donate something appropriate to your child's age/interest. Items must be received by May 10. Foundation for Education Ms. Coles and Mrs. Embury's class would like to extend their appreciation to the Foundation For Education for providing them with the opportunity to learn from artist Carol Bradley in the Pinch Pot Clay Workshops. Carol assisted our students in techniques for creating pinch pots and glazing them. We were so lucky to have this exciting opportunity and are very thankful for the experience. As well, on Tuesday, May 16th, there will be a Foundation funded Element Based Yoga workshop put on by Shannon Rose Scott. The students in Mrs. Stacey, Mrs. Silcox, Ms. Weber, Ms. Mahaffy and Mrs. Newman’s classes are looking forward to this wonderful opportunity!

**Important Change for 2017-2018 School Year** Beginning September 2017, the times of our school day will change. Staff supervision will begin on the school yard at 8:15am and the morning bell to begin our school day will ring at 8:30am. All students will be dismissed at the end of the day at 2:50pm. Our Before and After School program will be adjusted to these new bell times. The change of bell times for our school is part of a school board decision to save a significant amount of money in transportation and has been made in consultation with all schools in the St. Mary’s area.

Dear Little Falls Families, The annual Little Falls Carnival is right around the corner (May 18)! We will be sending out more information soon but wanted to send some important information out ASAP. The raffle is always one of the highlights for the students and we hope this year will be no different. With recent changes to lottery regulations, however, please be aware of the following: - As in previous years, we will be counting on the generosity of families to donate items to the raffle (approximate value of $10-15, appropriate to your child's age). The town requires that a complete list of all items and their values be submitted at least one week before the Carnival. Please be sure to drop off your item(s) no later than Wednesday, May 10. - Raffle tickets can only be purchased by people 18 years and older. You will be able to track your child's name along with your purchase but a waiver will be required to prove the purchaser's age. Only parents/legal guardians will be able to purchase tickets for their children. If you won't be attending Carnival with your child)ren), please be sure to purchase your tickets in advance using School Cash Online. (You will be notified when this is available.)
