Back in the office again at regular hours. I was away to Toronto for continuing education seminars with Dr. Charrette (biomechanics and adjusting strategies for the ankle and wrist) and Dr. James Cox (Over 50 years in practice, lots of peer reviewed research papers published and federal research grants. He is renowned for treating very difficult disc herniations, sciatica, spondylolysthesis, disc degeneration, failed back surgery etc using special (and exceptionally gentle!!) flex-distraction mobilizations). AWESOME!!

Exciting news! SRC will be helping the University of Alberta in conducting a research study to better determine which patient characteristics are associated with more positive and less positive outcomes post chiropractic care and adjustment. Starting next week 100 patients will be asked to volunteer. More information will be available at the office.

For our many patients who have asked, here is the recipe for the delicious apple cider that we had at the office over the holidays (Note: Original recipe called for whole allspice but I didn't have that so I used ground allspice. Also I added in about 3-4 cups of water as well to cut the sweetness a bit) 3 litres apple juice 1 cup brown sugar 4 cinnamon sticks About 1 tsp of cloves About 2 tsp of whole allspice The recipe was given to us by a staff member at ACC and we are happy to share it. Enjoy!

TIME SENSITIVE - A Time for Chiropractic Patients to be Heard A TIME FOR CHIROPRACTIC PATIENTS TO BE HEARD The Manitoba government is undertaking consultations to seek ideas and input from the public on improvements that will ensure the long term sustainability of Manitoba’s healthcare system. The process also allows for individual Manitobans to provide input by way of a survey. As a chiropractic patient, we strongly encourage you to participate in this survey. The voices of individual Manitobans matter a great deal in this process. It is our belief that there is room for chiropractic to serve a much higher profile in the delivery of health care in Manitoba. As a health care alternative, chiropractic is safe, effective and relatively economic solution when considering the alternatives. The deadline for participation in the survey is December 14, 2016 Survey link: www.gov.mb.ca./health/haveyoursay In thinking about your responses to the survey, you might be interested in some of the following topics : If you are a member of the Manitoba Government Employees Union: Are you aware that your employer does not accept “sick leave” notes from your chiropractor, but will from a nurse practitioner, midwife or physician and surgeon? Is this acceptable to you? Would you be interested in being able to visit a chiropractor as part of a health care team in a “quickcare” clinic? When you visit your chiropractor and it is their diagnosis that you would benefit from additional diagnostic testing (e.g. imaging or bloodwork) do you believe that the government should cover the cost of this testing; or do you prefer the current system where you are then required to stand in line at an already overcrowded emergency room or make an appointment to see a GP physician & surgeon in order to obtain the same requisition in order for it to be paid? Do you believe there would be value to attending health care clinics which include multidisciplinary health providers working in collaboration, including chiropractors?

We want to thank everyone for all of their encouragement, well wishes and support while Dr. Denbow has been studying for these past months to write board exams to become a Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. He wrote in Atlanta this past weekend, 8 hour written exam one day and then a practical exam the following day. Unfortunately we won't find out results until February or March but again just wanted to thank everyone for their support and well wishes.
