In the final episode of our 2017 #CrewAppreciation series, Shannon (the Reception Volunteer) opens up to how Shambhala Music Festival helped her feel comfortable in her own skin and to express her true self. "Theres so many people that come here and their minds are opened to so many different things ... Everybody is accepted for who they are and who they REALLY are, and not what people expect them to be.” Shannon recommends volunteering as the best way to get involved as “it gives you a better understanding of the entire festival, not just the attendee’s point of view” and has plans to attend the festival even when she's in her 70s, giving out big Grandma Hugs! 👵🏻❤️ Do you have a great smile and think you'd make a great at being the first to welcome crew, artists and guests on to the farm? It takes a village to raise a festival. Meet some of the faces of the ones getting dirty behind the scenes: Al and Amber; Celina "Daisy" Parkin; Colin; Anthony and Emma. "I've used my mechanical skills to no end on the farm, seeing as sometimes you have to get pretty... creative to fix what the farm throws at you (we call this "Farm Factor"). I've also used my machining skills at the farm to help build some of the decorations on the new Pagoda stage and the Grove stage as well! It's been fun to use my practical skills for art." - Colin Read our blog to find out more of their favourite moments working on the #SalmoRiverRanch: http://bit.ly/2Fkeoxs If you find the thought of building the temporary city of Shambhala Music Festival exciting and you're used to pulling up your sleeves and not afraid of getting dirty in the process, join the #Farmily on one of our Site Operations Crews! 🐮🌱🛠️ https://shambhalamusicfestival.com/working/ #CrewAppreciation #ShambhalaCrew #ShambhalaLovesYou

Say hello to this power couple in Episode 3 of our #CrewAppreciation series: Jordan Stokes (Taxi Volunteer) and Lauren DeGaine (Reception Volunteer). Jordan loves volunteering so much, that he says he would never go back to attending as just as a guest because he loves “knowing that you contribute to those same kinds of transformational experiences and just like that look of wonder in people’s eyes when they see some of the stuff that they don’t expect or they’ve never seen before.” Lauren shares how rewarding it is to build a community from being a volunteer - “If you do choose to do it, you’re going to get so much out of it that it’s gonna be 100% worth it and you just get to build this family that you see every year when you come back and it’s such a special experience.” Is “Safety” your middle name and do you have an impeccable driving record? Join Jordan as a Shambha-Taxi Driver! Or do you have a great smile and can think quickly on your feet, stay cool under pressure, and want to vibe off the excitement of all the fresh arrivals?! As we have grown our focus on sustainability and food production on the #SalmoRiverRanch, we've created an entirely new team: Food Processing. The Food Processing Crew processes vegetables and meat grown on site for use in the crew kitchen and at the festival, supporting our vision of farm-to-table, and bringing local, quality foods to our festival guests. 🌱🥗🥕 Meet Jo Osadchuk, our Food Processing Supervisor. Joanna has been coming to the festival for many years, and credits Shambhala for helping her come out of her shell. Her favourite thing about Shambhala? Dancing, of course! 💃 Read her story on our blog: https://shambhalamusicfestival.com/ca-month-joanna-osadchuk/ #CrewAppreciation #ShambhalaLovesYou #ShambhalaCrew

Siyee Man-Vandyck has an adventurous spirit. From hitchhiking to his first Shambhala on a whim, trying his very first meat-based burger at Shambhala's Blaze Burgers, to creating new extreme sports and evading predatory animals in the Canadian Rockies, Siyee is a fun-loving traveler! 🗺️ "I’ve worked and volunteered at several other music festivals and have never experienced working with a crew that vibed so hard! Everyone got along very well and help each other pull through the busy busy times when everyone needed their burgers!" Click below to read about how he discovered Shambhala, and how electronic music saved him from wolverines that one time (exaggeration? Maybe. But it's a great story anyway).🐺 http://bit.ly/2EvFdBB Interested in joining Siyee in the Food & Beverage department at #Shambhala2018? Wow, we are overwhelmed with all the #Shambhalove!💘 Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and congrats to our randomly selected two winners for the #Shambhalove contest: Erin Macdonald and Ariel Renee! We will be sending you each a merch prize pack. Erin's #shambhalove self-love story really hits home: "Shambhala is the place I go to fill my soul. It has become the thing that stirs me so hard and passionately. It is where I go for inspiration to continually become the best, most open, loving version of myself. I cannot possibly explain what it feels like to be part of a community that holds no judgement, only love, compassion, selflessness, kindness and curiosity" For Ariel, ever since her first Shambhala in 2015, she fell in love with the farm and she can't wait to return home for #Shambhala2018 with her boyfriend Andrew: "Not only do we get to frolic and be free and love one another, but we get to feel the collective love of all those that feel the same magic we do. It's the best feeling in the world - all we need is love!" Here are a few favourite snaps of some Shambhalove bugs and remember to keep spreading that #shambhalove! ❤️
