Education in mental health matters! That’s why we are so proud to offer the Franklin MindCare Scholarship to graduates in the field. Established in honour of two New Brunswick philanthropists, Janice Franklin and the late Mitchell Franklin, the goal is to foster excellence in mental healthcare by increasing our pool of skilled professionals. This non-renewable award of $2,800 is to assist with tuition and related expenses for mental health professionals who will practice in New Brunswick. It is open to students at the graduate level who show a positive and direct interest in offering their services to mental healthcare and its development in our province. The deadline for application is May 1st 2018. A BIG thank you to our Doctors of Philanthropy the John T. McMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation for their generous gift of $50,000 which was raised through their recent 12th Annual Fundraiser, Denim & Diamonds Gala. Funds will support the transformation of three patient stem cell transplant recovery rooms at the Saint John Regional Hospital as well as provide monetary assistance to patients and families in need, who have been stricken with leukaemia or other blood related cancers through the Families Helping Families fund. For those of you who don’t know them, Breasts Ahoy is a team of local dragon boat paddlers and breast cancer survivors- including some of our very own Saint John Regional Hospital staff. We are thrilled to share that they will be competing in Italy this summer! Way to go team Breasts Ahoy- you ladies are truly an inspiration!
