Green Bos Farm
Description
Green Bos Farm is located just south of Rimbey and is owned and operated by Clint and Anna Erickson. We are a small family farm located 45 minutes north of Red Deer in the scenic Lockhart valley which provides the necessary ingredients for sustainable, holistic and humane products. Our philosophy is to raise high quality meat with a distinct flavor that we are proud to serve to our family and friends. At Green Bos Farm we offer two types of beef; grass finished and farm raised. Our grass feed animals are taken off pasture between 18 to 20 months with a hanging weight of approximately 600 pounds. Grass feed beef is high in Omega 3s and low in saturated fats. At 18- 20 months our farm raised animals are taken off of pasture and finished on a grain and hay diet for 3 to 4 months which increases the amount of marbling in the final product. The types of meat you choose comes down to taste and texture preference and after the first bite you will know that our Beef is the Bos!

Bovine daycare...a few ladies watching the babies so the others get to have some free time to graze and water.
There are no manners required at this dinner table...but a little tattle taling is allowed.
Cow dogs like to have fun once in awhile too, even if it is a little strange:)

Green Bos Farm has a 1/2 farm raised beef available for sale. Our farm raised beef is home grown and raised on pasture. The last 3 months we finish them on a ration of locally milled barley and good quality hay. Expect this beef to be full of flavor, nutritious and versatile in the kitchen. Beef is $3.50/lb hanging weight plus all butchering charges. Also taking deposits on beef that will be ready to go to the butcher in June. We are also excited to be partnering up with Brush Hills Ranch and offering pasture raised chicken for pre-sale. These birds are started on fodder for their first three weeks of life and then are moved outside to eat green grass 24-7. They are also fed a GMO free ration with organic minerals and are antibiotic free. The chickens typically finish around 2.5-3 kg and will be ready for pick up on July 7/17. Chickens will be butchered and sold whole. $10.99/kg and a deposit will be required. Please PM with any questions.

In the last trimester, a bovine fetus grows about 70% and because of the increase in protein and energy that the cow needs, we supplement them with a barley ration. A well fed cow should have a healthy, strong calf and she will be in good shape to produce lots of milk to feed it.
