Prince Edward Yacht Club (www.peyc.ca) invites you to attend the first two in a series of boat-related talks that will take place on a few Wednesday evenings. The talks are open to everyone and promise to be both educational and entertaining. Topics include stories of long distance cruising, climate change and our boating environment, tips on racing, boating safety and more. Wednesday, November 15 John and Moira Coull - The Down East Loop The total distance from Picton Ontario down the St Lawrence and return via the Hudson river, including a few short side trips, is 2400 nautical miles. This cruise goes through areas of great historical importance, dramatic scenery and an abundance of wildlife to see. The Coulls completed their four years trip in 2015 and will share their experiences of summer/fall cruising with you. Their 42’ Custom C&C “Genevieve” is wintering in Bath, Ontario. Wednesday, December 13 Angus Ross - Climate change/a different world From a melting Arctic to a longer boating season. From unprecedented rainfall to drought-stricken regions. From forest fires to environmental refugees to effects on boat insurance. This presentation by Angus Ross will examine the causes and effects of climate change on a local, national, and global basis with some surprising implications. Time: 6:30 to 8 PM Location: PEYC, 30 Fairfield St, Picton Bar open, snacks available. Admission is free. Donations are welcome and will go directly to the PEYC Junior Sailing School.
