Pickering 101 – Your City. Right Now. (Week 4)
Last night, our Pickering 101 students were given an especially warm welcome from our fire services staff (this of course included our famous firehouse chili!) Students learned about the history of Pickering Fire Services, along with the variety of public programs available and fire statistics. Fire Inspector, Julie Ineson, taught us everything fire prevention related and the rest of the team, including the Platoon Chief discussed the mechanics and equipment of fire suppression. Not to mention, that while during the class, students got to experience our department’s alarm response…three times! Learn more about Pickering 101 here: http://bit.ly/1P2TfGQ
Emergency Management Ontario :: Step 1: Make A Plan
During an emergency, it may be easier to reach someone by text message, social media or by long-distance call than to call someone locally (due to network damage or a jammed system). Identify one or two out-of-town contacts you and your loved ones can connect with and share information. #BePrepared #ONready #PickeringFire http://bit.ly/1VLYufQ
