We are celebrating 50 amazing years since Sir Sandford Fleming College was established in 1967, which is the same year the Haliburton School of Fine Arts became an extension division of the college. Since renamed the Haliburton School of Art + Design, the arts school was envisioned in 1966 by a group of people in the Haliburton Highlands. Carole Finn was part of that group, and she is pictured here accepting a Bell Canada donation for the school presented by Earl Casey. Help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Haliburton Campus! On Thursday, August 10, join us at the Faculty Art Auction and 50th Anniversary Celebration. The event is hosted at the Fleming College - Haliburton School of Art + Design and features artworks donated by HSAD faculty, with proceeds funding student bursaries. We hope to see you there! It is no secret that Outdoor and Adventure Education graduate Connor McConnell loves nature. Instead of studying in the hustle and bustle of a big city, Connor opted to do his post-secondary education on 150 acres of land at Fleming College Frost Campus. And instead of taking a 9-to-5 office job after graduating, Connor chose to move to New Zealand to lead hikes on the Franz Josef Glacier. Read about Connor's journey here: https://flemingcollege.ca/focus-on-fleming/connor-mcconnell-climbs-to-career-success-at-franz-josef-glacier-guides-in-new-zealand/
In 2004, St. Josephs at Fleming opened, housing 200 people in a unique, eight-cluster residence. It was the first long-term care facility built on a post-secondary campus. Today, students from more than 20 Fleming College programs participate in clinical field practice, applied research and volunteer initiatives within or associated with this facility. As we celebrate Fleming’s 50th anniversary, we are reflecting on our #Amazing50 year history, which includes strong community connections at all four campus locations (Peterborough, Haliburton, Lindsay and Cobourg). Celebrate with us at our upcoming #Fleming50th events (https://flemingcollege.ca/50) and share your throwback Fleming photos on Twitter and Instagram using the #Fleming50th hashtag.
