The Orangeville Public Library would like to give thanks to all of those students, teacher-librarians, and family members who participated in this year’s Battle of the Books. Both the Intermediate and Junior Battles were met with much success. Congratulations to all students who participated and we hope to see you again next year for Battle 2017!

Join Canadian award-winning author and teacher Richard Scarsbrook for the third in a series of creative writing workshops. This two hour workshop focuses on how to develop realistic characters and settings, the role settings can play in a story, and how to write realistic and compelling dialogue.

Spencer Avenue Public School has won the Orangeville Public Library’s Battle of the Books, junior division (Grades 4, 5 and 6). Teams from different schools competed May 6th in a ‘round robin’ tournament to test the students’ knowledge of books read from a variety of genres. The purpose of this program is to promote literacy by encouraging students to read and have fun in a friendly competition amongst peers.
