facebook.comSadly the hope of establishing a Festival of Arts, centred at the Norwood Legion, supported by local Artists and local people seems over. In the past 7 years we have held four musical events, one poetry reading evening, our writers wrote and produced two plays/ shows while producing also one by Harold Pinter: we even had a successful Dine and Theatre event. Displays of paintings every year took place with workshops. One talk on The ideas of Fibonacci; several weekly workshops focusing upon glazing with acrylic paints followed by oils; colour use theory, and more were offered. Weekly guitar playing workshops, painting and creative writing took place over the years with a good drama group performing at the Norwood Legion. Those involved were very keen and supportive but the numbers of visitors remained so very disappointing. Performances and readings attracted a few visitors from as far afield as Bellville, Peterborough and even Toronto. However, local support never developed adequately to justify so much time energy and personal costs involved. I believe it was good to try but unfortunately we lacked that essential local support.
Elections are this Wednesday at 7:30pm. Members please bring your 2017 membership card in order to enter the meeting and give your vote for the respective positions.
