Come celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday at Summer in the Park with Steve Featherstone’s Interactive and Educational Reptile Show on Saturday August 5th and Sunday August 6th. Enjoy a hands on approach to learning about all kinds of animals, while developing a greater understanding of various species. Steve Featherstone helps children of all ages create a lifelong love of nature and animals of all kinds. Colourful snakes of all sizes, turtles and tortoises, crocodilia like alligators and caimans, lizards, arachnids, amphibians and more are part of Steve’s interactive shows. “Steve has a way of putting everyone at ease with the animals.” said Charles Elliott, SITP committee member. “Even folks who are scared of touching a snake or an exotic toad or spider are at ease with Steve’s show. By the end, everyone wants get that hands on experience. It really is pretty awesome.” There will be four 45 minutes show per day hosted on the Canada 150 Stage which will be at the Community Waterfront Park in the heart of the all the Summer in the Park free daytime programming. “It’s a great opportunity for people to learn more about animals and to meet them up and close and personal,” said Elliott. “This is a show you will want to see again and again.” The Steve Featherstone Interactive Educational Reptile Show is completely free to the public. “No wristbands required!” said Elliott. Don’t miss out on this great attraction at the Summer in the Park Festival.

Traffic delays on Cassells Street North Bay, ON – May 17, 2017 – Motorists will experience intermittent delays on Wednesday, May 17th from 6:00am to 8:00pm on Cassells Street at the Chippewa Creek Bridge as a result of a condition assessment on the bridge deck. Reduction to one lane of traffic using flagging personnel is expected during these delays. The City of North Bay thanks residents for their understanding and patience while this important infrastructure work is being completed.

New Mattress Recycling Program North Bay, ON – April 26, 2017 – The City of North Bay’s Merrick Landfill site will be initiating the new Mattress Recycling Program on May 1st. All mattresses and box springs, regardless of size or type (single, twin, double, queen, king, crib, sofa bed, futon) will be subject to a processing fee of $20 per piece in order to cover the cost of the program. This includes local handling, shipping and processing at the new Ontario Mattress Recycling facility in Barrie Ontario. The Merrick Landfill is located 26km north of the City on Sand Dam Road. Open from Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays beginning May 28th from noon to 4 p.m. For any waste related inquiries please contact 705-474-0400 ext. 2333.
