Obituary of Leo Rose
Comrades All, It is with deep regret and sorrow that I inform you that another of our Nations Heroes has passed away. Mr. Leo Rose, Korean War Veteran and Active member of Unit 217 answered the last roll call on Friday, March 24th 2017. On a personal level, Leo's passing has left a deep void in my life. I've met thousands of members through ANAVETS over the years but there was just something special about Leo that drew me closer. As our mutual respect and friendship grew over the years, I referred to Leo as Da and he would laugh and call me his number one son. We jokingly called his real sons, number 2, 3 & 4. He has made a tremendous impact on my life and how I continue to live it. To have this gentleman refer to me as a friend was a humongous honour that I will always cherish. I lost more than a friend this day, I lost a mentor, a father figure, a comrade, a teacher, a fellow coal miner, a gentleman and a hero. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed by many yet forgotten by none. - Jerome They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning. We will remember them. http://vjmcgillivray.ca/tribute/details/257/Leo-Rose/obituary.html#tribute-start
