Did you know that GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are found in most of the food sold at the supermarket? Did you know that this same food is sprayed with harsh pesticides that in return do not enhance nutrition or any other consumer benefit?
GMOs have recently been connected with growing health problems, environmental repercussions and violation of farmers' and consumers' rights. Unfortunately we are mainly kept in the dark about GMOs because the powerful biotech lobby has successfully managed to forgo mandatory GMO labelling on food.
As students, we know how difficult and inaccessible it can be to shop locally and organically. But now that there will be a weekly Farmers' Market right on campus, you can come buy your groceries from a trusted farmer!
Come stop by Wednesdays from 12pm-6pm at the new Green Space on the 2nd floor of the Hall Building.

An interesting opportunity: The Montreal Diet Dispensary is organizing a focus group discussion on food security, and it will be taking place at Concordia. They are looking for students who live in the Peter-McGill District. The focus group will be taking place on November 1st, between 2:00-4:00 p.m. Interested students who are unavailable for the focus group can be interviewed at another moment (see "interviews" leaflet in attachment). $15 will be given to each participant for their time.
