Everyone’s dreams came true! One of our most relaxing and cozy events made its triumphant return! Staff and residents woke up in their pajamas and got ready for their day in them! Some came down in their robes, others in a onesie, while the rest pulled out their good old shirt and top and slippers. Whatever way they wore them, the looked so comfortable!!! Paolo Busato was here, and as you already know, he did everything but put us to sleep! Thanks to Karen for the great collages! And a big thanks to everyone who braved showing off to curious eyes what their nightwear looks like. We wish every day was Pajama Day! But then, we can dream :).
It's All in the Detail - Therapeutic Colouring
Every Friday at Richview Manor we hold a therapeutic colouring class for our residents called "It's All the Detail". These books are blowing up everywhere with people of all ages, but particularly with seniors, there are so many wonderful benefits. Take a look at this link from #CityTVNews to hear more about how such a small project can be making such big difference in peoples' lives.http://www.680news.com/2016/01/14/video-adult-colouring-books-being-used-as-therapy-for-those-with-dementia/
Broadway Blowout
Musical theater is a thrilling experience live! But the music it produces is a ubiquitous part of our lives beyond the marquee lights. There are so many outstanding soundtracks from those shows; music that we listen to in our daily life because they are as popular and important to us as any other music produced. Richview Manor celebrated the music from the Great White Way on January 13th where Viviana made a highly anticipated return! She sang popular songs from familiar shows like Mama Mia, The Sound of Music, Evita and so many more! The dancefloor was crowded with so many people, and even those who didn't get up from their chairs were dancing in their seats. As part of the celebration, we had many characters come to surprise the residents. Roxie Hart from "Chicago", Sandy from "Grease", Edna from "Hairspray", the Phantom from "Phantom of the Opera", Elphaba from "Wicked", Yenta from "Fiddler on the Roof" and Gene Simmons from, er...many stage productions (he's a rockstar! He's in costume, singing and performing all the time!). Thanks to all who got silly and dressed up. We blew the lid off this blowout!
New Year's Open House
No one rings in the new year like Richview Manor! Just ask our residents! We said goodbye to 2015 the only way we knew how- with a big party! Paolo Busato and his wife blew the lid off the place with their wild and boisterous performances! The kitchen prepared some lovely appetizers, including a fantastic champagne cocktail. Thanks to Magda for the pictures! We hope everyone had a marvelous New Years Eve, and we would like to extend a very happy, healthy and safe 2016!
