Even if it's 5 solid minutes a day, that's all it takes! Very few students start out WANTING to practice, but it's hard to stop if you're seeing progress! If you're a parent who is concerned about your child's practice, this chart is a great way to identify where you fit in! You can't give them the ability, you can force them to practice but you can't force them to learn anything, and you can't create success for them. A parent's role in music learning mostly stems from helping build self-esteem, and providing support. If quality of practice is the issue, then talk to your teacher about teaching your child HOW to practice! Because there are right and wrong ways. The biggest problems with most people's practice is not addressing mistakes right away, and practicing pieces too fast. Slow down, focus on the parts that you know aren't right, and then continue on. And be patient! Never be worried about getting it perfect, it will come naturally over time.
