Warning: Ontario Government Shredding Marriage Licenses

PLEASE NOTE: The picture and accompanying story (link) below is being circulated through social media and causing unnecessary concern for couples getting married. There has in fact been a change in the way completed marriage licenses are mailed away to Thunder Bay for registration, but I am aware of what the change requires and am compliant with it. For wedding officiants, it amounts to nothing more than a small 'irritant'. The hysteria inducing headlines attached to this story "Warning: Ontario Government Shredding Marriage Licenses" is misleading and unnecessary. For all couples being married in Ontario from 2016 forward, a change by the Ontario Government requires completed marriage licenses to be mailed away by marriage officiants to Thunder Bay (home of the Registrar of Marriages office) in a new envelope that comes with the marriage license. In the past, the envelope that was supplied was postage paid. The new envelope requires the officiant to affix the $1.80 postage along with his/her return address label to the upper left corner of the envelope. Failing to do this 'could' result in the envelope not being mailed by Canada Post, but not shredded. I assume that if the postage is missing but a return address is affixed, the envelope would be returned by Canada Post to the sender to attach the required postage. The bottom line is that marriage officiants are aware of these new procedures and responding accordingly.

We were the first to charge $1200, tell the couple’s Love Story, and give their bridal party a personalized expanded grand entrance, etc. Like Steve Jobs, we created something that people needed - despite not knowing they "needed" it. Now days, what we created and performed in 1989 is written about in books and given as seminars and workshops by DJs who learned from MarBecca, and DJs are doing these things all over the world. Just like now, tablet computers and iPhone-like devices are all over the place. When you look around, you see millions of people who knowingly or unknowingly are being influenced by Steve Jobs - Whose lives have been changed by Steve Jobs. Improved.
