We had a great turnout at Zamboni Day! Three Canadian winter icons were represented: the Zamboni, Tim Horton's, and Graham Wilkins (organizer and Zamboni enthusiast). Thanks to Tim Horton's in Lakefield for (once again) supplying the hot coffee, and to the magnificent (and fun) Zamboni drivers who attended the event!

Thursday, Feb 8th, 2018 Clear and Cold today. Perfect weather for a scrape and a flood. Ice will be in good condition for this afternoon's recreational skate and for any club skaters who visit the Oval.

It's time to cross "Drive a Zamboni" off your Bucket List! For all you kids at heart, join us at the Oval this Saturday 10 a.m. to noon for your chance to drive the Zamboni around the track.($20 per person. All proceeds go to the Oval). Hot coffee supplied by Tim Horton's in Lakefield. (Thanks Tim!). Please note: Only licensed drivers qualify. Although kids are not allowed to ride on the Zamboni, they may hop on for a photo opp when it is stopped. Even sitting on the Zamboni is fun!

Wed, Feb 7th. Because it will be a snowy day, the Ice Crew will be plowing instead of flooding today. Nevertheless, the Oval will be OPEN for regular Public Skating this afternoon from 3 pm to dark.

Hunter County Cuisine (Peterborough) is sponsoring an O*VALENTINE candlelight skate date, Feb. 14! COUPLES ONLY. 5:30-7:30 pm. Couples, don't miss this opportunity to get your romance on! ($20. per couple, includes speed skate rentals -- All proceeds go to the Oval to help with ice-making and maintenance). (Warm fuzzies are reserved for couples dining at Hunter after their skate).

Overheard at the candlelight skate tonight: "the whole town of Lakefield must be here!" -- And so it seemed. Hundreds of skating enthusiasts laced up to make the outing a most spectacular event. (We saw lots of pictures being taken. Hopefully, some will be shared here on our FB page). A special thank you to VIC (volunteer ice crew) for making the ice, hot chocolate, and hundreds of people smile.

Skaters are invited to enjoy the unique experience of skating on smooth outdoor ice by the light of hundreds of candles. Hot Chocolate will be served to help keep skaters warm! Event is Free - Donations will be Appreciated
