Last week, MPP Cheri DiNovo tabled a bill aimed at repealing Ontario's discriminatory Breed Specific Legislation, and we felt honoured to be able to send a representative to appear alongside her at a press conference announcing the bill. As a rescue operating within the province of Ontario, Breed Specific Legislation has played an enormous role in determining which dogs we can and cannot save, and has meant the difference between life and death for countless innocent dogs who have had no other hope. We are ashamed to operate our rescue within a province where a group of living creatures has been written off based solely on their physical appearance. This archaic and illogical way of thinking is wrong, and it does nothing to address the real problem - owner responsibility. The numbers speak for themselves - in the eleven years that Ontario's ban has been in place, reported dog bites have only increased. Many jurisdictions with similar bans have since realized how ineffective regulating dogs based on breed is, and have repealed their bans. Our hope is that the same will be the case here in Ontario, and we are proud to support Cheri in this effort - she is a true champion for all dogs.

This Sunday, please visit our rescue for an opportunity to meet and interact with our many incredible dogs. This is also a perfect time to tour our grounds and see our horses. We are overjoyed to announce the adoption of 25 of our dogs, and to share their first (of many!) "family photos" with you. To all families who have adopted - thank you for opening your hearts and your homes to a dog in need. In doing so, not only have you changed the world for your dog, but you have also opened a space in our shelter so that another dog can be given that same chance. We could not be more grateful. ❤️

We'd like to take a moment to send our most heartfelt thanks to the incredible individuals who organized last weekend's second annual Chaos for K9s. Once again we were completely blown away by the amount of work, enthusiasm, and, most importantly, love, that went into the fun-filled indy wrestling event. The Chaos for K9s team spent the better part of a year organizing the spectacular event (complete with a calendar featuring their wrestlers posing with our dogs!), and raised a total of four thousand dollars for us to put towards the care of our animals. To receive this kind of support means the world to us, and reminds us that together we can all accomplish so much more. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! <3

City of Montreal Rejects Fact in Favour of Fear.

Countless innocent dogs reside in Montreal shelters right now, unaware that, in a week's time, the way that they look will render them "unadoptable", and could mean the difference between life and death. We are extremely disappointed by the illogical and irresponsible decision made by Montreal mayor Denis Coderre and city council members today, and fear the life-altering repercussions that this new bylaw will have not only for Montreal's dogs, but for the families who love them.

This weekend was a very special one for our team here at Dog Tales, as we had the honour of hosting the wedding of a wonderful animal-loving couple - Jennifer and Michelle. Jen and Michelle were married on a beautiful Saturday afternoon as their friends and family (and our horses!) looked on. To be able to play a part in such a meaningful moment in their lives meant so much to us, and we loved to see that their sweet chocolate lab, Hudson, was included in the ceremony! The love that these two have for one another radiates, and we wish them so much happiness in the future! <3
