Calling all humans. Come in earthlings. Grok this: Poetry on Rocks is back after a 10 year hiatus! On Friday, April 21st, intergalactic poet bill bissett, who Margaret Atwood considers her astral twin, Jack Kerouac called, “a great poet”, and CBC’s Sook Yin Lee declared, “The Godfather of Canadian Poetry”, lands in Kimberley to chant his way into our collective soul. bissett’s Kootenay launch of his 75th book, “TH BOOK” will accompany three other launches: Kimberley’s Jeff Pew’s first poetry collection “One Foot In”, Brendon McCallum’s chapbook “I Know Things (and it’s freaking me out)” and Washington’s Stephen Roxborough’s thirteenth publication “Ego to Earthschool”. Also appearing, East Kootenay poets and storytellers Jeff Holden, Brittany Bates, Nate O’Hearn, Jen Creasy, Jack Bolger, Kaia Barth-Lessard and Jeff Bates will join the orbit of awe and wonder, as well as Jedi emcee Johnny Haner. Intermission DJ, beer and wine bar, and hors d'oeuvres in the art gallery. Tickets available (while they last) at Arrow & Axe, and Centre 64. “I was born in lunaria a wonderful galaxee—planet v far away beyond venus 312 manee manee dayze n nites 2 get ther or cum from arrivd in erthling inkarnaysun 300 earth yeers ago approx as navigaysyn assistant under furst navigaytor jonathon blessing kleerans from the oral aisles uv my home planet erth is sew diffikult sumtimes….i try n b hopeful sumtimes that’s reelee onlee an akt uv faith wch sumtimes is reelee sumthing isint it yes yes yes lunarian blessing 4 us all.” (bill bissett, 2005)
