Ski Resort

Description

ad

The Inuvik Ski Club has a large network of groomed trails and 7 months of snow cover, one of the longest ski seasons anywhere. "Top of the World skiing sounds colourful, and it is more than just tundra skiing in the spring. It is probably the finest spring skiing in the world – constant temperatures and weather, blue skies, sunshine into the late night, and well groomed trails on the unique Mackenzie Delta setting."
- Bjorger Pettersen

Club Building
The Inuvik Ski Club ski hut is open to all members and their guests. Members can obtain the access code to the building with membership fees. The hut is heated but has no running water or toilet facilities. The nearest rest rooms are located at the Midnight Sun Recreation Centre across Gwich'in Road from the ski hut. A limited number of lockers are available for members to store their skis, and are available for rent at $20 per season (Oct 1st - May 1st). The hut also has ski waxing benches, waxing irons and a selection of waxes available to members.

Equipment
Members have access to the waxing table and equipment. The club has an inventory of NNN boots, skis and poles for use by children in the Jackrabbits program, and a number of NNN adult skis, boots, and poles, available to skiers participating in Inuvik Ski Club events.

Club Events
Jackrabbits (kids 4-14), Track Attack (youth 14+), Adult Social Ski Evenings, Lantern Ski, Top of the World Loppet, and others.

Skiing with Dogs

Birch Loop is available to those who like to ski with their canine companions. Please ensure that your dog is under control and not interfering with the pleasure of other users, and of course please clean up your dog's droppings. Dogs are permitted on the Birch Loop and on the trail to the culvert. Turn left immediately after the culvert to get to the Birch Loop. We ask that people avoid skiing on the trails with their dogs during the week prior to the club's special events such as the Lantern Ski and the Ski Loppet. The trails are specially groomed before these events and we would like them to be in their best possible shape for the big day.

Happy Easter weekend, skiers! We're entering the last few weeks of the official season (though I hope we're able to be on rock skis well into May), and that means evaluations, sun and lots of fun! Programming for tomorrow is as follows: Jackrabbits and Bunnyrabbits, 2:30pm - 4:00pm Easter Egg Hunt and Adventure Ski! Bunnies will search for coloured eggs along the Green trails, and Jackrabbits will be on the lookout for rubber duckies through the Green, Red, and Yellow. Surprises and treats afterwards! Coaches are going to be evaluating skills, so please arrive on time, suitably dressed (sunglasses and layers) and ready to glide! The last session (TBA) will evaluate and award skill stickers to skiers who have attended 4+ sessions. Ski Sale (ongoing) Anyone interested in purchasing used ISC skis, boots, and poles is invited to email or message the club or chat to Patrick at the chalet about availability. Let us know your height (cm), weight (kg), and shoe size (European), and we can select the best match of equipment! Once we've gone through inventory and have determined if there's a package, we'll let you know a price. This is in lieu of a formal sale, and should make it easier for everyone. Take advantage of some great deals now, and get set-up for next year! Enjoy your long weekend, Holly
