wow it has been a long time since I came on here to chat with you all. I have been super busy trying to set up an Etsy shop. Reading all day about the dos and don'ts of Etsy. Photos to take. There are a few on here that do not follow any of the proper way to shoot pictures so you will see a change in them. I so hope you enjoy the freshness and the originality of the new ones. I have also narrowed (finally) down what will be in my shop. I will be sewing Bohemian outfits, jewelry and stain glass. I think this will keep me busy. So keep in touch as I will with you all. well I can only say what happened to me yesterday would only happen here In Nova Scotia. I headed into the city for my puppy, Shaylee, to get her nails and hair done. Lisa Wilcox, her groomer, calls, she is running a few minutes late. Lisa is a wonderful person, guys. If any one needs a dog groomer she's the one. anywho, I decide to head over to Atlantic Fabric to kill a bit of time. great sale there BTW, I'm over in my favorite section, Lace. and this older lady comes by pushing her cart. Of course we start talking about the projects we are making with the lace. She asks me who taught me how to sew, I tell her my mom. She says she only has one child, a boy and her granddaughter doesn't want to learn either. She then tells me her eyes are going and it is getting very difficult to sew anymore. My heart is breaking for this sweet lady. I totally understand how your body can stop you from doing the things you love to do. She then tells me of these two machines ( a steamer and a presser) that she is giving away to charity. I tell her with her kindness that someone out there will be making wonderful projects and I walk over to the cutting tables to get my lace measured and cut. She comes over and holds out her hand and introduces herself as Julia Roach. I give her my name. She says she has changed her mind and she wants to know if I would like to have the two machines, She only wants to know that the machines will be taken care of and used all the time. I couldn't say a word for a moment. This sweet lady who has only know me for 15 minutes wants to give me these two machines. I tell of course and ask how much.. she says 20.00. and writes her address down. She then gives me a huge hug and tells me that she will see me soon.. I go drop off my puppy and head over to Julia's home. She proudly shows me throughout her beautiful condo. showing me as she walks through all the things that she has made for her home. I am no where near her experience.. Her work is incredible. we chat for awhile and she tells me of her open heart surgery that she just had in June and that she is still quite weak. Julia then walks me to a huge closet. she asks me when is the next time I will be in the City. I say a month, and Julia starts to open all these boxes full of material, patterns, ribbing, zippers, lace and such. She says to give her a month to go through it all and come back and pick it all up. Again I am at a loss of the kindness of this wonderful lady. Only in Nova Scotia will you find this type of blind kindness. Julia wanted nothing in return but to know that someone else who loves sewing as much as she does will enjoy all the materials and machines. I have been blessed with a wonderful friend.
