Island Girls! Do you have your tickets? The Savoy Theatre is proud to present ISLAND GIRLS, Music and Comedy, coming this April, featuring four of Cape Breton’s busiest female performers: BETTE MACDONALD, HEATHER RANKIN, LUCY MACNEIL AND JENN SHEPPARD. The Fem Four – each representing a different facet of our island’s entertainment community – are set to combine their individual musical and comedic talents in order to take audiences on a journey to celebrate all things Cape Breton. Show-goers can expect to enjoy some belly laughs while they catch up with a few familiar characters, sing along with some old favourites and maybe even hear some new ones. A thrill-ride of a show! Don’t miss the story of the infamous rivalry between the two greatest bands of the rock & roll era. The show begins with the Beatles in their famous black suits performing the songs that changed the world in so many ways. They are followed by the Rolling Stones, also in their early 60’s “look”, and featuring Mr. Brian Jones on his famous teardrop guitar. As the show (and historical timeline) progresses, you will witness the Beatles in their Sgt. Pepper wardrobe, the Rolling Stones in mid-60’s psychedelic finery, and finally dressed in the fashions of the late 60’s/early 70’s. The grand finale is a mash-up of both a Beatles and a Stones hit—yet another back & forth clash of these musical titans. The show culminates with a cast-member asking the audience, “Well, who do you think won tonight? Was it the Beatles or the Stones?” However, in the end, it’s the audience who are the true winners – having experienced such a magical performance!
