GFT Aerospace Technologies
Description
Founded in 1992, GFT is flight training school strategically located in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. Through training at GFT, pilots will obtain the necessary certifications and skills to succeed in the aviation industry. GFT Aerospace Technologies incorporates several operational divisions including Aerospace Repair and Overhaul with certifications in Composite Repair, Aviation Welding, and Sheet Metal Fabrication. Other divisions include Professional Flight Training, Aircraft Charter, and Sales & Service which are all located in a new, state of the art complex specifically designed to meet all operational needs. GFT's dynamic team, under the leadership of Patrick and Florence White, continues to expand its horizons.
GFT Aerospace Technologies has evolved from humble beginnings since its incorporation as Exploits Valley Air Services Ltd. (EVAS) in 1992. It all started when President/CEO, Patrick White purchased a single engine Cessna 150 and began flight training at a small airstrip near the Town of Botwood, located in the Exploits Valley region of the scenic Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. To facilitate growth, EVAS relocated to the renowned aviation Town of Gander in 1993 where it completed its first Air Cadet Flying Scholarship Program sponsored by the Canadian Department of National Defense. EVAS operated from both locations for a short period of time. However, it soon became evident that the volume of activity was in Gander and a permanent move was made. Additional aircraft and personnel were acquired and public reference to the business as “Gander Flight Training” (GFT) became so predominant and comfortable that it seemed to stick.
Today, GFT is well known as one of the top flight schools in Canada providing a full range of Professional Flight Training Programs in fixed-wing aircraft. Additionally, certifications and approvals have been obtained and the training has been expanded to include other aerospace applications such as Advanced Bonding and Composite Technician and various airline and aviation safety training programs.
GFT Aerospace operates as a Tier III Carrier for Air Canada. This partnership allows GFT students the ability to transfer their training into a career with a major international airline. Ask about GFT's unique Career Progression Program.
Additionally, GFT has a partnership with Rangsit University in Thailand and currently is host to several Thai students. GFT is looking at other areas worldwide to expand it's international relationship and international student recruitment.
You will find the team attitude at GFT Aerospace Technologies to be extremely positive. We believe much of our success is attributed to our “can do” attitude and when common minds and energies combine, anything is achievable.
We hope you consider GFT Aerospace Technologies to begin your career in aviation!
