Here is a nice gritty industrial portrait from a recent assignment. Really liked how these turned out. It can be a challenge to shoot in sensitive locations where natural lighting is either not great or artificial light is restricted. Fortunately we caught a few breaks on this shoot and happened to briefly get some nice natural light. The client was very pleased and that's the most important thing.

From last weeks assignment, The Edson Gas Plant with a distinctly painterly look to it. Unfortunately it was a very dull unappealing hazy day, so I worked a bit of voodoo on this one.

Continuing with my painterly series, here is a Van Gogh-esque version of my Dwarf Birch in Autumn. The photograph was captured September 2015 along the Eastern slope of the Rockies in Alberta. Interested in purchasing a signed print of this or any others just message me.

Deep in the forest a hiker has wandered off the trail and lost his way, confusion ensues as direction becomes blurred, fear grips tight as shadows turn to night. In the darkness every sense becomes acute, distant sounds creep closer, echoes fill your head, cold and dampness are your only shelter. Do not panic, keep your wits, you can get through this. You tell your self there is nothing in the dark that is not there in the light, little comfort to that thought. Very soon, darkness gives way to light, the ever loving light finally penetrates the canopy and once again has illuminated the forest floor. Your fear melts away, you have again found your path, you have survived the darkness and you are stronger now. Don't give up, create your opportunity. Every picture can tell a story, however abstract it may appear. "Lost in the Woods" #abstractsunday

Edit mode today, another from the Alexis PowWow, "Nakota Sioux Warrior". I'm loving how these back lit portraits silhouetted against the setting sun have turned out. I would love to do more of these.

On assignment yesterday at the Alexis Powwow, it was an incredible experience, the regalia and the customs were stunning. I also ran into a couple of the Powwow photo masters Bert Crowfoot and Perry Mah, hung out, got some tips, was pretty great! Best part was I had one of my daughters with me and she loved it too! Here is one of several hundred images I shot.
