In what is known as the Rocky Mountain Trench with the Rockies to the east and the Purcell Mountains to the west, Cranbrook is the largested municipality in south-east British Columbia. Cranbrook was established as a townsite in 1898 with the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway and subsequently incorporated as a municipality in 1905. The city resides within the traditional territiory of the Ktunaxa (pronounced “tu-na-ha”) First Nation and is blessed with some of the most spectacular scenery to be found.
