We in Downtown Courtenay are having such a great time celebrating our owners and getting to know why they heart Downtown Courtenay and having a little glimpse into their business life. Kimber Stone is the proud owner of A Gemstone Hair Studio. She opened in April 2013. Kimber <3's being in her new Downtown Courtenay location because it provides more community support and activities! Kimber is celebrating 5 years of business in April 2018 and feels so lucky to have the best clients -what an amazing accomplishment! Right now her biggest challenge is growing the business however she keeps getting inspiration by her original goal of providing clients with nutritious and safe products from Intelligent Nutrients and to provide a healthy work environment within the beauty/cosmetic industry. (No artificial fragrances/perfumes, perms, chemical straightening services or nails are done in the studio). #weheartdowntowncourtenay - share with us why you heart Downtown Courtenay using this hashtag!

Gladstone Brewing Company, Cornerstone Café & Taphouse is proudly owned by Alexandra Stephanson & Daniel Sharratt. Gladstone was opened January 2015 and Cornerstone - May 2016. They <3 Downtown Courtenay, and <3 how each shop is rich with detail and has its own style and flavour. Each little shop is an experience. Alexandra and Daniel feel their biggest success is seeing the smiles on their customers' faces. Knowing that they are truly making a difference in their lives by being a place where friends meet - where people can grow and relax with friends old and new. Similar to other Downtown Courtenay business owners their biggest challenge is balancing family life and professional life. They want to give so much of themselves to both. Their inspiration has always had deep roots in community-building. Gladstone has made so many amazing friends in the beer industry, all of whom have helped lift them up. At Cornerstone, their friends in the arts and cultural community have helped them deliver eclectic programming to their space. They couldn't do any of this without their community, and they look forward to serving them for many years to come! #weheartdowntowncourtenay #downtowncourtenay

Happy February - we are still enjoying sharing all the "love stories" of Downtown Courtenay Jess and Derek Kaufman from Lupine Art Studio opened their doors May 2017. They ❤️the vibrancy and the welcoming community of the business owners. With this they are celebrating their biggest success of exceeding our estimated registrations, with over 700 in less than a year. However all success comes with challenges and its balancing work and family - especially since they are still in their first year. Their inspiration is having a vision of artists and want-to-be artists collaborating and sharing a space for creating amazing art. So cool! #weheartdowntowncourtenay
