In September of 2017 CBCL Limited used automated video traffic count units to monitor pedestrian and cyclist usage of Charlottetown’s Active Transportation Networks. The goal of this research is to assess and improve the City’s existing Active Transportation infrastructure in an efficient and feasible manner. The Water and Sewer Utility Department apologizes for any inconvenience.

There are ten newly funded community sustainability projects on the go in the Capital region, thanks to the City of Charlottetown’s Micro-Grants Program. The community-based projects were selected to receive funding based on their ability to work towards the goals and actions of the City’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP), and their ability to engage the community in sustainability. The micro-grant awards range between $500 and $2,500. Each of the 2018 micro-grant projects relate to one or more of the four pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, cultural and social. Projects include everything from a solar watering system and edible gardening for beginners to an inner city life skills camp, the Wild Child Forest School and a Sustainability Development Fair, among others. Traffic will be detoured around the intersection and not permitted through. Detour signage and traffic control personnel will be in place. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays. Sidewalk excavation will be taking place on Weymouth Street, between Sydney Street and Richmond Street, on the east side. Sidewalks on the east side in the construction area will be closed and pedestrians are asked to use the paved path in Hillsborough Square. Motorists may experience minor traffic delays at times throughout the day on Tuesday, June 12. Traffic control personal will be on site.
