2017/05/11 Found Puppy: This morning Municipal Enforcement impounded a young female German Shepherd cross-breed dog. The story behind locating this little girl is a sad one. Yesterday (2017/05/10) while completing his shift, a Residential Solid Waste Collector found this puppy in a cardboard box in the back of his truck after picking up garbage all day. Municipal Enforcement is actively seeking the owner of this dog to ensure there was no foul play with relation to the dog, and to see if this is just a tragic accident where a young dog managed to get itself into a tough situation. At this time it is unknown how or when the dog was placed into the vehicle, and the Transfer Station where the dog was located is used by multiple municipalities. At this time the puppy is very safe, has been given food and water, and any other necessities. Municipal Enforcement would also like to send out a huge thank you to the person who found this little girl and treated her like a member of their family throughout the night last night. When we took custody of the dog, she was happily fed and watered.

2017/05/08 This morning Municipal Enforcement received a a tip from a member of the public regarding a small bird that appeared to have fallen from a nest in the cemetery. Upon arrival Municipal Enforcement Officer Larsen was able to identify the small bird as a very young Great Horned Owl and noticed that it appeared that it had fallen from its nest, which was about 30 feet in the tree above where it was located. MEO Larsen was able to contact the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation in Coaldale before touching the animal and found that the animal had little to no chance of survival without intervention. MEO Larsen was able to transport the young Owlet to the the foundation in nearby Coaldale.. Thanks to quick thinking members of the public and joint efforts from fellow Law Enforcement and the Birds of Prey Foundation, this little Owlet has a second shot at life! Municipal Enforcement would like to thank the person who called the bird in, and wants to remind the public that if you see injured or orphaned wildlife, to contact the professionals and to never touch the animal, this will allow for the best possible situation for the animal, just like what happened this morning!
